As the morning sunshine kisses
the slabstones of Dongshengli
A foreign guy with a stiff suit comes slowly
on his bike from the far side of the alley.
He greets the passers-by warmly,
and stops his French bicycle in front of
the exotic building in this area
"Pavillon de Paris".
He is Matthieu from Toulouse, France.
WSET Level 3 Award in Wines (WSET School London）
and he is also an etiquette expert
He is the founder of Hedonia
which is a training institution
and the first company in China to
gather wine training and etiquette trainning
in the same training offer.
The clean suit, shiny leather shoes
The exquisite pocket square
and the wine bottle shaped cufflinks
These details reveal the romance and delicacy of French style
As Socrates said 2500 years ago, "The really important thing is not to live, but to live well." I believe that sharing a dinner and a bottle of good wine with the people I love is one of the simple pleasures that sustain my life. Hedonia was founded not only because I wanted to share my passion for life with the public, but also I wanted to build a cultural bridge between China and my motherland, France. ——Matthieu
4 years ago, he came to Suzhou to study
and then he finished his master degrees
at Skema Business School.
After graduation, he stayed here
and started his own company
to start his own business in China is not complicated
He always says that he needs to keep a heart
of learning and exploration
So he hopes to spread and publicize French etiquette
through such work, and raise Chinese people's
understanding of Western etiquette
"I have always been told by my Chinese friends that we should keep learning, and this could apply to etiquette. Maybe everyone knows a small part of it. I think many people should be interested in it, especially in business occasions. I myself am very interested in Chinese etiquette and I keep learning everyday. Wine is another one of my passions, it's my pleasure and honor to share my knowledge about wine with others who are curious about it, French wine and the wines from other countries."
Matthieu would travel between Suzhou
and Shanghai or the surrounding cities,
but he still chose to live in Suzhou
"Maybe because I am a foreigner, in Suzhou it happens a lot that I get stopped on the streets and people come to me and talk with me. It makes me feel warm."
"It's very near to Shanghai, and I love Suzhou, especially Gusu District where I have been living, in Le Qiao, for 2 years. Recently there has been many different new things to enjoy, such as new cafes, activities, art galleries. I really like the area around my office and the people in the streets. It is very beautiful with so much art on the walls !"
